How Will Donald Trump´s Win Affect Ukraine and Drone Market?
With Donald Trump´s win in the US elections, many speculations are predicting a change in the course of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict; thus, a significant change in the drone market will also follow after the recent ban of the Chinese drones from the US.
Reports from several sources are expecting changes in European defence spending under Trump´s presidency. European leaders responded to Trump´s win by congratulating him, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy who claims that he´s looking forward to an era of strong United States of America under Donald´s leadership.
What does this have to do with the drone market? The answer is Trump´s `America First´ policy and its impact on trade relations, including Chinese products. With DJI being the giant manufacturer and provider of drones in the whole world, speculations claim that Trump might potentially tighten restrictions on Chinese drone import and impose additional taxes and tariffs on businesses that sell Chinese-made drones.
Donald´s presidency is viewed differently, especially from US drone manufacturers that see this as an opportunity for their drone products to thrive with Trump´s policy. However, not all parties will be happy with this news due to the incoming tarrifs that will affect companies who sell Chinese drones in the US. This is not Trump´s first experience with Chinese products, as he imposed several rules on Chinese telecommunications giant `Huawei´ in 2019.
September 2024 was a problematic month for DJI with the US ban. The Chinese drone company faced several charges from the US Congress, accusing DJI of espionnage and links with the Chinese army. How will Donald Trump deal with this ban? We will see in the upcoming months.
