INTERGEO 2024 Event – Geospatial Journey for Drones
From 24th to 26th September, Stuttgart witnessed Germany´s biggest geospatial technology event, INTERGEO 2024, an event where new innovations and technologies from different companies were showcased to the public, showing new LIDAR and GEO advancements that will shape the future of surveying and geospatial technology.
Many companies stood out with their newly developped technologies like DJI, GEODNET, Pix4D and Hexagon Geosystems. GEODNET, a global RTK (Real-Time Kinematics) Corrections Network, introduced their new base station that allows its users to mine GEOD Crypto currency. GEODNET´s global RTK Network naturally complements on-device sensors such as cameras, LiDAR, and IMU´s to power AI-based Autonomous Systems. The non-profit foundation´s approach is useful for drones´ GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System). Basically, station owners set up a satellite mining station to share their location in exchange for GEOD Tokens that can be used in Crypto currency trading. With around 10000 stations, GEODNET´s new blockchain-based decentralized network offers and affordable approach that anyone can access.
Hexagon Geosystems introduced their new Leica GS05, a lightweight GNSS Smart Antenna featuring calibration-free tilt compensation designed for surveyors. This new antenna reduces operator fatigue during extended surveys and measures points accurately, enabling faster and efficient data collection. Through their GeoCloud Drive, a service within HxGN GeoCloud and a powerful cloud-based collaboration portal, it is easier to transfer work and dataflows. The Leica GS05 seamlessly integrates with the broader Leica Geosystems portfolio, including Leica Captivate field software. It also operates alongside Leica total stations as an efficient SmartPole. This integration with user's existing Leica Geosystems' equipment and workflows, maximises efficiency and avoids additional investment.
Giant drone manufacturer, DJI, was also present in the event with their new DJI Dock2 drone, an autonomous drone docking station that enables fully automated drone operations, providing security for DJI drones to land, recharge, and deploy without any intervention from the user. This new technology will be useful for difficult-to-reach areas, thanks to its real-time data transmission, fast charging, and weather resistance.
The INTERGEO 2024 event delivered as usual with the new innovations and solutions that will definitely impact the future of geospatial technology. Many other companies introduced their new products and showcased them through in-place demonstrations.
