Mount Everest´s New Trash Cleaners - DJI Flycart30 Drone
Cleaning the world´s highest mountain is no easy task for personnel, how did Nepal help solve the problem? The answer is giant drones. The famous destination for adventure seekers, Mount Everest, is piled up with a landfill-like trash, even with huge efforts from cleaners. Around 50 metric tons of garbage was left in the landscape over the past few years.
According to The Kathmandu Post, Nepal will be using heavy lifter drones as a way of solving the waste problem. The unmanned heavy lifter drones, sounding like a swarm of bees, can carry up together to 225 kg per load down the mountain, reducing life-threatning positions for cleaners on the Khumbu Icefall.
The drones are made by Chinese drone manufacturer - DJI. DJI Flycart30 drones have successfully carried 225 kg of garbage last April in only one hour compared to climbers´ six hours quest. These giant drones will be safer as the Khumbu Icefall is becoming more dangerous due to warm temperatures.
Future training sessions for the local Sherpa to operate drones are on the way. Administration officer of the Everest municipality, Jagat Bhusal quotes: ´Yes, there are concerns that the machines may actually cut jobs, but our sole purpose is to reduce potential deaths in the Khumbu Icefall, the danger zone,´.
