DJI Responds to Being Classified as a Military Company

Following DJI´s ban from the US, the US Department of Defense strikes again with classifying the giant Chinese drone manufacturer as a military company. DJI will be taking legal action against the accusations.

According to a report, DJI is trying to remove some products from a US list that impacted both the company´s reputation and business opportunities in the US. The Chinese company states that the US Ministry of Defense could not provide any explanations on adding DJI to the Chinese military companies list. The ministry provided explanations, which contained errors, only after DJI threats to take legal actions against these accusations.

Previously in September 2024, DJI claimed that the company has no relation with the Chinese government, despite receiving some investment from two governmental parties. However, the company insisted that these investments are a small fraction of DJI´s shares and voting rights.

The uprising conflict between DJI and the US Defense ministry is not the only one. Many federal agencies such as the US Army, Department of the Interior and Department of Commerce accuse the Chinese drone manufacturer of espionage and human rights violations. DJI keeps responding to these accusations by stating that her drones are tools meant for inspections, public safety, and surveying, rather than being operated in wars or malicious parties.

Still, the US congress is supporting a complete ban of DJI drones due to national security reasons.
