OCEANS 2024 Halifax - an Event for Global Marine Technology at Drones World

From September 23rd to 26th, the OCEANS annual event is currently taking place in Halifax, Canada to bring together global marine technologists, government officials, industry leaders, and students to discuss the current trends of maritimal topics such as marine ecosystem preservation, sustainable blue economy, and emerging technologies. Organized by the Marine Technology Society (MTS) and the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (OES), over 2000 attendees are enjoying the latest innovations in products and services. The event is highlighting over 500 professionally reviewed technical papers, more than 100 exhibitors showcasing the latest technologies, and sessions with leaders from the industry. OCEANS 2024 is also providing training sessions, workshops and networking opportunities.

Ok, but how this event relates to drones? Last year´s OCEANS event (OCEAN 2023 Limerick) witnessed an interesting project called `ATLANTIS H2020 Project´. The project is a drone platform enabling future Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) to land on terrestrial and aquatic surfaces, improving the efficiency of utilizing airspace drones for tasks like turbine inspection. Additionally, this project focused on integrating these drones for underwater inspection and mooring lines monitoring. ATLANTIS project establishes a pioneer pilot infrastructure capable of demonstrating key enabling robotic technologies for inspection and maintenance of offshore wind farms. This large-scale pilot `ATLANTIS Test Center´ is deployed in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, to capture the weather and sea state conditions of the Atlantic Ocean.

The following video demonstrates the ATLANTIS project:

Back to OCEANS event, the sponsoring parties - Marine Technology Society (MTS) & IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (OES) - partnered to present this conference to society members, affiliated companies, agencies, universities, and individuals, in order to further grow and develop their fields through collaborative learning and synergistic solutions.

Tomorrow marks the last day of the OCEANS event, we will keep you updated with news and new innovations from this special exhibition.
